What is "Free Lunch"

Free Lunch Fund raising plan was initiated by Mr Den Fei and main stream media together with China Welfare Foundation. In the past five years Free Lunch had becoming a mature charity project. This time, Free Lunch Foundation, together with China Red cross Foundation and Dream Building Service Association has taken the project to Africa, China Red Cross focuses project implementation in Ethiopia and Dream Building Service Association focuses project implementation in Kenya.

Free Lunch Foundation not only becomes the leader and role model of Chinese Charity going abroad, it also shows a Country's mission and responsibility.

Free lunch program started on March 1 2017 in the capital city of Kenya, Mathare Slum as a piloting project. Mathare Slum is the second largest slum in Kenya and has a area of 3 kilometer square living a population of 700,000. Lacking of job opportunities and education has threatened and affected the development of Mathare.

Due to the insufficient income in the family, children were not able to pay school fees and buy food, there is a large scale of children looses chance to go to school. Secondly, the poor studying environment afrects the quality of education. Free Lunh Program will enhance children to have a better learning and growth.

Under a reasonable budget per children, we referred to several organizations and formed the menu for the school. The menu has a balanced diet and improved hygiene. We hope to enhance the children's living and enrollment through providing basic meals.

Breakfast: Monday-Friday Uji(Porridge)

Meanwhile, we will discover and build a set of efficient, transparent, durable and complete management policy for a continuous development of the project. We will track the project throughout and evaluate the project regularly to ensure the quality of the project.

There is a quote in the Chinese proverb:" we should appreciate each meal".

This saying has totally reminded the consumerism society. Seen the children been satisfied and hardworking, we have seen our progress. But this is not enough, we will work harder and try to make the project more successful and sustainable.
